My Story
I come to this work as a survivor, seeker, and witness, shaped by exile, inquiry, and the medicine of the body.
I was born in Beirut, Lebanon and fled the Lebanese civil war as a child to London, UK. That early experience shapes my relationship to the body, identity, safety, and belonging and it informs how I work today.
My first professional incarnation was as a lawyer and academic. Upon qualifying at the English Bar, I briefly represented clients in the criminal courts before shifting into freelance work with international organisations. That chapter took me to Palestine where I worked for a children's NGO. Following this, I became involved in election work, democratic transitions and humanitarian responses, spending time in high intensity places such as Bosnia, Russia, East Timor, Haiti, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Nepal, Ghana.
In the meantime, I returned to university as a mature student and obtained a PhD in Law specialising in Colonial Legal History. I lectured at London University for many years where I was Director of a programme for students without prior formal qualifications.
All this experience gave me a rigorous grounding in justice systems, ethics, and power structures. It also gave me invaluable practice in holding space in tense and sometimes volatile environments, whether interviewing someone in a jail cell, overseeing a ballot count in a rural field at 3 a.m. whilst surrounded by militia, or building trust in a classroom full of sceptical students!

The Healing Arts
I have always had a love for the esoteric, and for ancient mystical and healing traditions, meditating my way through many a war zone! But after a particularly difficult period in my own life, I became more attuned to the things that justice systems overlook: the lasting imprints of trauma, the role of the collective in healing and the ways that the body absorbs and releases experience.
I started to explore embodiment and somatic practices more deeply and transitioned naturally from political transformation to personal revolution and inner alchemy.
This path led me to Kundalini Yoga and Meditation, Craniosacral Therapy, and my ongoing studies as an Apprentice Herbalist. But my commitment to social justice and equality never left the building, and I felt passionate about making the healing arts accessible to all.
As a teacher and therapist, I prioritize the participation and autonomy of my clients. My approach is not one of ‘intervention’ but rather of collaboration. As a trauma informed practitioner, I am aware of the psyche's defence and survival strategies and of the nervous system's longing for safety.
Being an immigrant myself, I am also acutely aware of how standard Western therapy can fail to take into account the social context of clients whose primary culture is not European: the core values, beliefs, traditions and norms that shape our behaviours. In my practice, these lived realities are very much within my awareness. I bring a deep respect for each person's story and trust in the body's capacity to heal in its own time.
Get in touchOngoing Study and Practice
A practice nourished by ongoing study.
I love to deepen and expand the way I work and my practice is nourished by ongoing study across a range of healing modalities, including my studies as an Apprentice Herbalist, sacred dance, death midwifery and sound healing. These threads help me evolve, and they support the way I hold space, the way I listen and the way I can support you.
Alongside my therapeutic work, I'm also a writer. Over the years I have published fiction, essays, poetry, and academic texts. Writing remains a core part of who I am, of how I process and engage with the world and with myself.
Professional Integrity
I am an insured and registered member of the CSTA (which sets the highest UK standards of training and ongoing development for its practitioners). Following the scandal involving the founder of Kundalini Yoga in the West (Yogi Bhajan), I am no longer a member of IKYTA as their values do not align with mine. However, I continue to study closely under senior teachers and mentors who have also distanced themselves from the organisation.
